How To Have Life Eternal…

Romans 8:1-4 (NIV)

Life Through the Spirit

“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you[a] free from the law of sin and death. For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh,[b] God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering.[c]And so he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.”

What a wonderful God we serve! And, the love of His Son and our Savior, Jesus Christ, is truly amazing. This is the gospel message of the Lord Jesus above.

Man had, (has), a sin problem. This fleshly “tent” in which we live is weak. Therefore we are incapable of keeping the law of God perfectly. There are too many human desires and temptations, even for those who are in Christ Jesus. We slip into sin; we fall to the wiles of the evil one who will never leave us alone until he is locked away in hell by the Lord Himself!

God knew this from the beginning of time. He had the plan of man’s reconciliation unto Him laid out in full. Jesus Christ came to this earth and dwelt among men. He took our sins upon Him and carried every one of them to the cross. The Perfect for the imperfect, He took our beating and our death upon Himself willingly and died in order to save us.

Three days later, the Mighty God raised Him from the tomb of death and shortly brought Him back into heaven to sit at His right hand…a victor over both physical and spiritual death.

Therefore there is no condemnation for those who live in Christ Jesus. He set us free from the law of sin and death, and made us alive through the law of the Spirit of life, as it says in (V 1-2)!

The gift of God’s grace through our faith in Jesus has saved us…

For what the law was powerless to do, (V 3-4), in that it was weakened by our sinful nature, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful man. This was so that the righteous requirements of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the sinful nature but according to the Spirit.

Yes, this is pretty straight-forward, elementary Christian teaching. For all who rightly call themselves Christians, we know and believe this.

However, at times, I see a few people from other types of websites who will visit me, as I’m sure you do as well. I think it a good thing to have this basic message of the gospel of Christ posted.

We just never know what “doors” the Lord may open to an opportunity to share the word with someone! May He bless all of His children in our efforts to win souls for the Lord…

Amazing Mom!

~Proverbs 31:27

She looks well to the ways of her household, And does not eat the bread of idleness.

Not to sound over simplified nor understated, a mother is such a special person, with a number of unique qualities. She models virtue, tolerance, intelligence, and strength, not only for her own children, but for all people in general.

We usually talk about mothers at this time of year from a loving human perspective. But today, I’d like to use several verses from Proverbs 31 to illustrate how God views the woman in her roles as both a wife and mother.

Beginning in Proverbs 31:10-12, we find the worth of a wife and mother from her husband’s perspective. Here it says that a wife of noble character is worth more than rubies, which is very true.

Wealth can be spent and then it is gone. But a loving wife will provide for her family day in and day out, and is to be highly appreciated for doing so. Her husband, (and family), can have full confidence in her all the days of their lives together.

Moving on to verses 15, 25-29 we find out much more about this very important person we call “mom.” Here we read:

She rises also while it is still night And gives food to her household And portions to her maidens...Strength and dignity are her clothing, And she smiles at the future. She opens her mouth in wisdom, And the teaching of kindness is on her tongue. She looks well to the ways of her household, And does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and bless her; Her husband also, and he praises her, saying: Many daughters have done nobly, But you excel them all.”…

As it is in many homes, the mother is the one who gets things going in the mornings. She “hits the floor moving” as she wakes the children and pushes them along to get ready for their days. And even with all she is doing at once, she keeps her cool! Almost every mom is great at multitasking…

Every so often, she may be called upon to hand out some advise or an opinion on anything from a general question to a major crisis! Isn’t it amazing that she can usually impart her wisdom while preparing breakfast or doing some last second ironing. Talk about some major talent and abilities!

Well, that’s just part of her motherly knacks…she just usually takes it all in stride. And even though her children and husband may say little more than a quick “thanks,” all that she provides them is highly appreciated. Very, very few others can give to their families with the love of a good wife and mother. As it says in verse 29Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.”

But the notable deeds of most mothers does not end with taking care of the household and family chores. For years now, a great number of moms are holding down jobs or going to school as well. This means they have to put in extra effort to get themselves ready for their day.

However, despite the extra call of duty, mothers take this in stride as well. Some of these remarkable women hold down very important managerial positions in companies of all types. The Lord has high praise for this obligation as well.

Look at what is said of the professional woman in verses 16-18: “She considers a field and buys it; From her earnings she plants a vineyard. She girds herself with strength And makes her arms strong. She senses that her gain is good; Her lamp does not go out at night.”

A great number of women, (many are mothers), are entrusted with making important business decisions; every bit as crucial as a number of men in the work-a-day world. And they take on these decisions in a strong, well qualified manner.

Add to this the fact that most of these women’s days don’t quit at 5:00 or 6:00 PM. They take their work home with them, some laboring well into the night at times just because they have to get things done! And this only to answer an early call for the next morning…

Finally, a mother is very special in another way as well; she cares for others in ways that few do. Some of these people may be in her home, but others may not even be related to her. However, that doesn’t interfere with that very strong “motherly instinct” embedded in most moms.

While many of us notice such attributes, this quality is also observed and praised by the Lord God. Let’s look at the words of verses 20-22, where scripture states: “She extends her hand to the poor, And she stretches out her hands to the needy. She is not afraid of the snow for her household, For all her household are clothed with scarlet. She makes coverings for herself; Her clothing is fine linen and purple.”

Mothers have a large capacity to love and care for people. As we have said, this can extend to many people in need of such attention. It is interesting to note that the Lord has paid such mothers a great compliment in the verses concerning such care, even in their own households.

He speaks of their homes as “clothed in scarlet,” and her own clothing as “fine linen and purple.” Such descriptions are used throughout the bible and the world to denote royalty and supremacy. To think that the Lord our God considers these things are as upstanding as that! What an honor before God…

In conclusion, our observations, along with the comments made in Proverbs 31 clearly make our mothers very remarkable ladies in our lives. May all mothers everywhere, who shoulder all of these responsibilities and more, be blessed in every way. And this not only by the people they touch and inspire each day, but with the blessings of a very appreciative God as well.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there!

A Quiet and Peaceable Life

“The best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere where they can be quiet, alone with the heavens, nature and God.  Because only then does one feel that all is as it should be and that God wishes to see people happy, amidst the simple beauty of nature.”  Anne Frank
