We came to Kentucky to attend the annual Family Reunion.  We were here once about 10 years ago.  It is very interesting to be in a room with people you have never met before.  When I looked close I could see similarities.  Many of the men have my long forehead and distinctive ears.  One distant relative who shared the characteristics described our ears by saying “It looks like a taxi going down the street with both front doors open.”   It was fun to meet new people who shared the same heritage and who knew something about me, sometimes things I didn’t know.
Debbie shared none of the physical characteristics yet she was as welcomed as I: Perhaps more.  Debbie is never one to remain shy or quiet for long.  It was great to watch her intermingling and being readily accepted, engaged in easy conversation and enjoying stories.  This year we have our Grandsons Nicholas and Caleb with us.  Kids seem to be able to find a friend everywhere they go.
I read a book once about someone who “died” in an auto accident and then was revived.  His description of heaven during the time of his “death” was of people he knew and people he didn’t know coming to greet him and welcome him with joy, praise and hugs.  That is similar to the experience I had at our Family Union.  It is also a pleasant visual for me of heaven.  People will come to greet you with joy, praise and hugs, accepting you unconditionally.  And if you look close enough you will see that all the people bear the same physical characteristics as I have, the mark of the lamb.  We are all family. We are all praise and love because of what God has done for us.
50 I declare to you, brothers and sisters, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. 51 Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed— 52 in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. 53 For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. 54 When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.”
55 “Where, O death, is your victory?
Where, O death, is your sting?”
56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
I Corinthians 15:50-57
