One said “aren’t you the Christ? Save yourself and us too!”

But the other was humble and rebuked him saying…

“Do you not fear God, as we are under the same sentence?

We are punished justly, but this man is without guilt.

Lord, remember me when you come into your kingdom.”

Truthfully, today you will be with me in paradise.”

I have read the story of the 2 crucified with Christ many times. One thief had the faith to receive eternal life. Very good post Steve.

Thank you as always, Peggy. Of course, many who believe in “faith alone” salvation commonly use that story to show how people could be saved without baptism. But we must remind them that Christ hadn’t died yet, so there was no death to be baptized into! Christ commonly forgave sins by faith during His ministry on earth, but that changed at His death, (Rom. 6:3-5)…

Thanks, Peggy. I thought as a member of the church of Christ you’d understand it. What gets me is the number of believers who are willing to risk their entire salvation on the fact that being baptized isn’t necessary to be saved. But I have shown some express scripture and they just reject it! That’s just not right…

There are many that will never believe baptism is necessary. Jesus’s words in Mark 16:16 tells it all.

Yes it does. In fact, in the beginnings of the church as explained in Acts, many times the scriptures refer to being added to the church by faith and baptism…

Yes, that is true Steve. A person needs to do everything God tells them to do in his word, not just what they wish to do to be saved. That would be like reading the instructions on how to assemble something and only following part of the instruction sheet.

Very well said, Peggy. One can’t build a home without a foundation and one can’t be a “grocery store list” kind of Christian…Thanks 🙂
