Romans 5:1-5 (NKJV)

“1 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.”

Christians, the children of grace, those favored of God are so very fortunate in this life, and in the next life as well!

Yes we are guilty of our sins, past and present, but we do not stand convicted of them. For by the work of Christ on the cross, and our faith in Him, we are innocent; we are “white as snow” in the sight of the glorious Lord God Almighty!

“1 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

But there is even more than this great blessing He gives us. For it is because of the strength He also supplies we can rise up steadfastly against the trials of life. The Lord has told us that we will have tribulations in order to build upon our faith and confidence in Him. Therefore, we know that trials are not meaningless, for they help to develop perseverance and Godly character, which enhances our hope for life eternal in heaven.

And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.”

This is what “The NIV Study Bible, copyright 1995, Zondervan Publishing” has to say about our hope as spoken of by the apostle Paul in verse five:

“The believer’s hope is not to be equated with unfounded optimism. On the contrary, it is the blessed assurance of our future destiny and is based on God’s love, which is revealed to us by the Holy Spirit and objectively demonstrated to us in the death of Christ…”

The hope of a child of God is as secure as can be! It is promised by God in love, revealed to us through the Holy Spirit, and demonstrated to us in Jesus on the cross. The entire panoply of the Godhead has promised the future to the faithful…we WILL be given a home in heaven. Of this there can be no doubt.

Prayer:

Thank you, Oh Lord, for the love You have for us…a love which we do not deserve. But Your love has overcome the world and delivered us from the sin which had polluted our souls. You deserve all glory and praise, which we offer up to You in this prayer. Thank you for the grace which saves us, and the trials which train us to look to You in every circumstance…in the name of Christ  Jesus, Amen!
